Dr. Josef R. Wuensch is Senior Vice President at BASF SE. His responsibilities cover global research and product development for performance materials comprising the market segments transportation, consumer, construction and industrial. Josef also leads the R&D activities for biopolymers, polycondensation and additive manufacturing technologies as well as polymer processing technologies. Prior to the current role he was heading up the research department on Material Systems & Solutions and also has had a senior leadership position in central research (responsible for formulation, mathematics, modelling and technology incubation). From 2006 to 2012 Josef was Managing Director at BASF Venture Capital, operationally responsible for the entire investment activities with investment offices at Ludwigshafen, San Francisco, Boston, Herzelia, HongKong and Tokyo. Josef is also experienced in business management, technical service, market development, and corporate strategy where he held several positions during his career at BASF. Abroad, he was heading up activities in New Jersey where he lived for several years as well as Mexico City and HongKong. Josef R. Wuensch received a Ph.D. in chemistry from Georg August University in Goettingen. Working on drugs for heart diseases he graduated in pharmacy as a subsidiary subject. Josef was born in Augsburg, Bavaria and grew up in the county of Aichach.
