Description

An overview of content and participating host/speakers.

Especially relevant for anyone interested in Autonomous Driving, AI, Data Privacy, Computer Vision, Image and Video Data Processing at scale (Roles could be Autonomous Driving BU Decision Makers, Data Scientists, Data Architects, AD Strategy, Data Privacy Officer, Data Protection Manager, Data Compliance Manager, etc.).

Most of us have been recorded by an odd-looking mapping vehicle at some point and were probably wondering what was going on. Why are these cars filming their environment and what is happening with the recorded data? At the same time, how can companies possibly ensure the protection of personal data in line with GDPR without having the consent of each recorded individual? As next-generation AD & ADAS functionality based on high-quality image data requires vehicles to be equipped with multiple cameras, the data privacy challenge is ever increasing.

All companies have a (social) responsibility to protect personal data, which can be very challenging. Also, the risks of GDPR violations and subsequent fines are severe, and most companies do not have much experience in implementing compliant processes in line with “privacy by design”. Therefore, effective and efficient solutions are needed that allow data-driven companies to focus on the core business objectives.

Join our session if you want to find out how the challenge can be solved and learn more about data privacy compliance aspects in industry use-cases such as autonomous driving development.

We will discuss and answer the following questions: How can companies ensure GDPR compliance when processing publicly recorded images or videos in integrated, large-scale environments, while maintaining data quality for machine learning and video analytics?

Learnings gained: Participants will learn more about the relevance of data anonymization, as well as a new method based on generative artificial intelligence to ensure high data quality. In addition, the added value of integrated anonymization solutions in large-scale data processing pipelines will be highlighted.

Agenda & Topics

Project Teaser

This session is associated with a pilot project that has been developed throughout our most recent STARTUP AUTOBAHN program. The comprehensive overview of this collaboration can be found below.

Advancing Autonomous Driving with Large-Scale Data Anonymization

There is no doubt that autonomous vehicles have a huge potential to transform mobility. Breakthrough machine learning systems based on artificial neural networks are building the backbone of robust autonomous driving solutions. However, for these models to be properly trained, access to large volumes of high-quality image and video data is needed. And even though autonomous driving regulations are constantly evolving, and greater clarity is needed on this front before fully automated vehicles hit the road, one rule has already been set in stone: data privacy. According to the European GDPR , consent is needed when processing personally identifiable information such as faces and license plates. Since all autonomous mobility players have the social responsibility to protect personal data, the usage of publicly recorded data suddenly becomes more challenging.

Project Teasers can be accessed and downloaded on the respective program startup profiles with which our STARTUP AUTOBAHN partners teamed up with.
